How to Make Money part.2

In the earlier post I went trough the most common ways people normally make money and in this post I will make "TIME=LABOR=MONEY" abit more clear for most people.

TIME=LABOR=MONEY

This is what the game is all about.. how to wisely convert your labor into money, most of the prices etc used on this guide will be fictional.

To understand this guide you need to be able to handle basic mathematics. I guess you need that shit somewhere after school.

So first we need to find out how much money/labor you need to make, it can be done by checking the price of Worker's Compensation on auction house.

Lets say that price of the potion is 30 g. so we no know that we pay 30g for 1000 labor so we need to make 3silver/labor.

30 00 00 / 1000 = money/labor.

so assuming that you make 6 g of a tradepack that costs you 120 labor, you will make 2 silver profit / pack. (mat price not inc.)

60000/120-300

so the best way to make money basically is Auction Whoring, you'll be checking and counting prices that craftmaterias/final product prices are and what would be the labor consumption. Taxes included...

example: Small seed oil on the auction house is 4g60s, to make it you need 3 charcoal stabilizers, 20 rice, 20 corn. Prices for the materials will be stabilizers 94s each, rice 3s each, corn 3s each.
Then you need to start doing the math.

(3*9400)+(300*20)+(300*20) = 4g2s

here it seems that we have done a great profit, now we need to take taxes out of the expected gain, lets say we'll be wanting the 4g60s we checked the price being before.

46000*0.9 = so the money we would be gaining would be 4g14s

Now for the labor cost! so we need 3silver/labor. Crafting the item will cost you 15 labor

(41400-42000)/15 so you wont be making any profit for making this kind of potion

All calcs here:
Seed Oil currently: 4g60s
Materials: 4g2s
460*0.9=4g14s
414-420
Seed oil=15labor

How to Make Money

Basically there are unlimited ways to make money in this game but i'll be going trough the main ones that people use and are legit.

I will not be discussing of illegal ways of making money or anything else on this blog.

Fishing

Fishing boat own/friends recommended on having

Fishing is currently the best way to make money by far. If you are just starting fishing, buy a "Wrapped Bamboo Fishing Rod" from the auction house and you will have your fishing rod ready. Next I'd recommend getting bait worms to get your fishing up to 10k, there are two way to do this, either buy them from the auction house or make seed bundles on a farmers workstation(requires 15k farming), harvesting seed bundles will give you bait worms.

Next time you go AFK just go next to a sea/lake and AUTO-fish by pressing the fishing button with shift + rightclick and it'll keep fishing. Try and get high labor for this.

When you are at 10k fishing you should start sports fishing. To sports fish you'll need some type of chum and a lure. you can buy chums and lures at bluesalt merchant in Lilyut hills (Requires Vocation Padges(obtained from gathering skills)). its just outside the private farm in windshade. After you've obtained lures / chums you can head to the open sea, you can sports fish around areas where you see a bunch of seagulls flying in a circle.
There are different lures for different rods and different chum for different fish. will be listing them below.

ROD:
Yellow Lure                    Bamboo Fishing Rod & Steel Fishing Rod
Green Lure                     Springy Steel Fishing Rod
Blue Lure                       Gilt Fishing Rod
Red Lure                        Archeum Fishing Rod

CHUM:
Chum                             Carp & Electric Eel(fresh water fish)
Chopped Squid              Arowana
Chopped Roosterfish      Sturgeon
Chopped Sardines          Bluefin Tuna
Chopped Pike                Sailfish
Chopped Mackerel        Blue Marlin

(lists above from cheapest to highest order)
not 100% list, only basic stuff.

Traderuns

Second best way to make money.

Tradeship / Farm wagon recommended

When you open folio (O) you will see a crafting skill Commerce, from there you select Nuian/Haranyan specialties. There you will find all the packs you can make at your selected continent. You should select a place where "specialty workbench"(check map) is near sea and craft packs there. From the crafting window you will see what materials you will need to make it.

You can get materials two ways, either make them yourself on your farm or buy them of the auction house. when you hover your mouse on an item you'll see how to get it so wont be going trough all packs here.

If you are just starting traderuns and have never done them before you should buy a donkey from mirage island(blue portal near auctioneer). It will allow you to move faster with a tradepack.

After you've made your first tradepack you have to select where you should carry it. Their sell price will be decided upon how many zones are between craft and sale locations, Is there a searoute, is it a pvp area.

Every zone will grow the price with ~1gold.
a possible searoute lowers the price by a small amount.
PvP area will highly increase the value

Before starting your trip i recommend studying the map and selecting a best route you can take, remember that when you are carrying a single tradepack you can also use searoutes on some parts of the journey.

You can also gain gilda stars for an example for a tradeship / fishing boat, by returning tradepacks to Freedich island which is located in the middle of the game map, Freedich island is highly active pvp area so I don't recommend heading there unless you are lv50.

Additional notes:
Tradepack slows you down
You cant use hereafter portals while carrying a pack
You cant glide while carrying a tradepack

Coinpurses

Yes coinpurses. This will take a lot of time and lots of grinding to actually give you money.

You should start this when you hit lv50, go to one of these places.

Sailfish in Perinoor Ruins
Weresharks in Sanddeep(beach north of golden fable)
Yetis in Brookborne Basin
Golems / Bears in brookborne.

I recommend taking some MP potions with you for full AOE dmg. Unless you want to kill them one by one by autoattacking with manastars on similar.

Every coinpurse you open will have a change of giving you an item that you can sell on a high price in auction house.

Every coinpurse will give you larceny proficiency and higher proficiency will give you higher change to get items on the purses/double item.

Additional notes: Higher larceny will also cause you not to leave footprints when committing a crime.

Crafting #2 Armor

When managing your farm consider creating materials for crafts.

WORKBENCHES can be found in all cities and can be filtered to show on your map

press (O) for folio to see all crafts

Armor Crafting

Armors are done with either Metalwork, Leatherwork or Tailoring

Metalwork gives you plate, Leatherwork leather and Tailoring cloth

Basic element you need in crafting all armor is Moonlight archeum.

For all metalwork you'll need iron, for all leatherworking you need leathers and in tailoring you need fabric

Crafting basically starts with your basic Apprentice's armor, after you've made it you can upgrade it. To create higher level gear you need the previous weapon/armor piece. so basically to craft Craftsman's armor you'll need the Apprentice's armor and to craft Artificer's armor you need the Craftsman's armor and so on and so on.

Apprentice's > Craftsman's > Artificer's > Artisan's > Conqueror's > Illustrious > Magnificent > Epherium > Deplhinad.

Crafting #1 Weapons

I'll be going trough all crafts one by one

When managing your farm consider creating materials for crafts.

WORKBENCHES can be found in all cities and can be filtered to show on your map

press (O) for folio to see all crafts

Weapon Crafting

Weapons are done with either Weaponry or Carpentry

With Carpentry you do all the scepters, staffs and bows and with Weaponry the rest

Basic element that you need in crafting all weapons is Sunlight Archeum.

For Capentry you need Lumber as a basic element and for Weaponry you need Iron Ingot.

Crafting basically starts with your basic Apprentice's weapon, after you've made it you can upgrade it. To create higher level gear you need the previous weapon/armor piece. so basically to craft Craftsman's weapon you'll need the Apprentice's weapon and to craft Artificer's weapon you need the Craftsman's weapon and so on and so on.

Apprentice's > Craftsman's > Artificer's > Artisan's > Conqueror's > Illustrious > Magnificent > Epherium > Deplhinad.

Farming

Basics

Farms help you raise your own materials needed for crafting or sales. You can farm on either a farm plot owned by you sized 8x8 or 16x16 that only you, your family, your guild can access, whatever you choose. You can also create an "illegal" farm anywhere in the game area that provides the necessities for farming such as grass/water, these farms are accessible for everyone so they need to be well hidden from sight, It is illegal to steal from someone elses illegal farm and stealing will cause you to gain infamy points.

Seeds / Samplings / Animals can be bought from merchants around housing areas.

Normal farming

Normal farming is placed on a farm owned by you on a farming area in some zone. You can plant everything from trees to mushrooms. Your Farm size is either 8x8 or 16x16, the bigger one is recommended if you have lots of farms (tax you pay for the plantation will rise). The farm sizes consist of boxes so basically 16x16 is 16 boxes wide and on each side.

Plant sizes depend on the size of the actual plant so mushroom is obviously smaller than a pine tree duhh,,?
plant sizes are so the smallest is 1.5x1.5 and the largest being 6x6, good examples for these are mushroom and pine.

Animals can also be farmed and there are many different types of animals such as turkeys, chickens, cows etc. etc. and they produce items expected from them: Turkeys are meat, chicken give you eggs and cows give you milk and SHIIIAAT.

Some of these materials can be processed further to use in crafting proficiensies with different tools, Logs=lumber(carpentry, printing), mushrooms=medicinal powder(alchemy) and so on, some material combinations can be combined to a tradepack with correct items.

Illegal farming

Illegal farming is basically just like normal farming the plants/animals are just planted outside of the protected zone, which means they can be accessed by anyone in the game.
Stealing stuff from anyone's illegal farm will get you crime/infamy points that will eventually get you in jail.

+ Pros: Unlimited space (seen almost 10k tree forests)
            Possible higher gain of money
- Cons: Can be accessed by anyone
            Crime points if stealing
            Possible loss of money

Underwater farming

Underwater farming is used to make materials mostly to handicrafts and alchemy. It is abit more expensive than regular farming since the space is much more limited and it may be hard to find free spots for this. Since farming underwater is more expensive than regular farming it causes prices on alchemy and handicrafts be higher than you'd assume, example: Artisans earring might be 200-300g on the auctionhouse where artisans staff might only be 40g. (more on the handicrafts price reasons etc. on Guide concerning handicrafts)

Public Farms

The game also provides a safe way to farm for people that don't have normal farm plots or have enough money/balls to start an illegal farm. These farms are marked on the map as a scarecrow. They don't work exactly like other farms but close, There can only be planted small plants/animals such as barley, potatoes, chicken.
If you plant on a public farm and don't come and harvest within the given time period the materials will become public to everyone.

Other Characters aka alts

You only need alts in this game basically only for popping labor potions, nothing else.

You need to get your character to level 15 to use labor potions.

You will hit level 15 around Royster's camp and then you'll be sitting next to mail owl for the rest of the game.

Some people make alts abit higher than level 15 to sell mentee runs in Sharpwind Mines dungeon in dewstone plains.

Some people also do several accounts to farm gilda stars, but I don't recommend it since its against the game rules and will get you banned.

Labor

This post will get you to a bigger understanding about labor in archeage

This kind of a system in gaming was really suprising when I found about it and learned how it worked. I've played so many mmorpg games that I can't even remember all of them by name and normally newly introduced systems are around combat/other gameplay for example cabals epic combo system.

TIME = LABOR = MONEY

Everything you do in archeage is connected to labor. Ofcourse you can go and kill mobs and go pvp, but you won't be getting any coins or items, that you would get in any other mmorpg game. From monsters you get coinpurses that you have to use labor to open 1 - 5 labor/purse atm, depending on the purse. From the purse you get a few silver and with a small chance some items.

Archeage is entirely about crafting, gathering and merchanting and everything you do takes labor if you wish to gather materials for your crafts you need to use labor, craft materials for crafting takes labor, want to buy items for crafting it takes labor.

Even the main money making things like fishing and traderunning take labor and alot, more about that later

The higher level stuff you do the more labor it takes.

LABOR CAPS AND HOW TO GAIN IT

There are two labor caps, for patrons the labor cap is 5000 and for normal user its 2000.

You can gain labor just by being patron, as a patron you get 10 labor every 5 minutes you are onlineand 5 labor every 5 minutes offline. As a normal user you only get 5 labor for being online.

You can also by worker's compensations from either marketplace or auction house, it will restore 1000 labor, but it has a 12 hour cooldown. Good thing about these potions is that the cooldown is locked for only character you use it on so you can literally pop max 8 labor potions daily while getting 2,8k labor just by being online 24/7.(check alts)

Getting to Level 50

Its all about time and lots and lots of effort.

HAHAHAHA Just kidding

In ArcheAge it is really easy to hit max level. At headstart our guild was split into leveling groups that would move by themselves completing quests on their own pace. we decided that we'll be playing at least 36 hours straight and we did, and hit somewhere above level 40. Few more hours into the game and we hit level 50.

This post will help you achieve that somewhat slower or at the same pace depending on luck and some effort you can put in.

As you create your character and select its skill trees do it so they will be either magic or non-magic classes, mixes don't work in this game. This will make you able to play trough the levels to level 50 without being forced to change skill trees.
PROtip: in your build have either shadowplay or auramancy as one of the trees.

As you are playing there are two ways to approach leveling up. Questing or Crafting

I'd recommend questing unless you are ready to spend €/$ to the game but I'll be explaining both.

LEVELING TROUGH QUESTING

This can be explained really easily so I will. If you are starting the game alone without a friend or a family member playing with you its essential for you to get friends in the game that can help you kill faster, in the game its not about the questing kills but the exp you gain from completing them.

Remember to ask people around you what quest-lines they are working on and send them a party invitation if they are on the same quest or a few quests behind. This will help you complete the quests up ahead much faster than you would alone.

ALWAYS OVERACHIEVE quests when you can. This means when you've completed the quest you are working on and it says [completed], you don't stop there but you keep doing the objective that the quest had and you'll get [extra progress] and after a while[overachieved] it will give you more exp than normal.

You keep doing that on every quest you can, there are some quests that won't let you overachieve such as signpost quests and some single item collecting quests.

LEVELING TROUGH CRAFTING&LABOR

This will take some of your real money or alot of time.
There are alot of proficiency options but I'd use mining for leveling.

Basically labor=exp=money . You'll be needing patron account for this to get max labor so buy patron.

First you need to get level 15, so follow the quest leveling guide until you hit 15.

In the ingame market there are items that you'll be needing: Worker's Compensation and Vocation Tonic

Worker's Compensation is a potion that will give you 1000 labor but can only be used every 12 hours.
Vocation Tonic is a potion that will double the exp you get trough labor consumption.

First start by selling some cash items on auction house (auctioneer, can be found in all major cities, marked on map(M) as a blue circle) so you'll get some base money. With the money buy a few Dahuta's bubbles they will allow you to breath underwater.

After you've done the things above you are ready to go. Next you need to get your labor to allmost 5000. this can be done by drinking worker's compensations. Remember to use them every 12 hours.
This can be done faster by buying 2 character slot expansion scrolls which enables you to get 2 more characters. After this level all your characters to level 15 and start chunking down potions on all 4 characters every 12 hours.

After you hit 5000 labor head to:
MAP TO AREA

If the link isn't working I'll explain just in case. Head to the sea south of area Cinderstone Moor there will be lava pools. you can see them by swimming/sailing around with rowboat. In these lava pools there will be smoking rocks. By mining them you'll get exp. remember to drink your dahuta's bubbles before they run out.

Keep popping Worker's Compensations every 12 hours on all characters and using Vocation Tonics while mining and you'll be level 50 in no time.

You can also level Metalwork and Masonry while doing this if you wish. From the rocks you mine you will get starshard chips and raw stone. the chips can be smelt into ingots and raw stone can be crafted into stone bricks. this will take more time since the labor consumtion will be lower. (More explained in crafting)
